Plasma cutting system increases cutting speed in 2-in. mild steel

Hypertherm Associates has released the XPR460 plasma cutting system for mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The system performs multiple applications with SureCut technology for bolt-ready holes and smooth 45-degree bevels, the company reports.

Suitable for XY and robotic cutting applications, the system increases cutting speed by an average of 12% through 2-in. mild steel. It also pierces up to 2.5-in. mild steel.

Ramp-down error protection helps increase realized consumable life, and torch protection helps reduce the impact of catastrophic electrode blowouts, which can damage the torch at high current levels.
